Create a login at irctc.co.in
Create a Master Passenger list to avoid typing names while booking ticket
First try to book any ticket, go the payment section and see which payment you need to select while booking tickets.
click on your preferred payments and see how it works
Then at the actual time of booking
select From and to stations, date
select your train, select passengers from master list
and then the payment

Do not click twice - anything
it takes time to go to next page, but it works

For normal tickets 8 am before 60 days of actual departure from origin station
For tatkal AC tickets 10 am one day before actual departure from origin station
For tatkal Sleeper tickets 11 am one day before actual departure from origin station
